Jesus is Risen! You may know Him as a great man who did incredible things during His earthly life, but do you really know the love of Jesus? Our friend who emptied Himself of blood and life so that we could be fulfilled for all eternity? On this Easter Sunday, we reflect, we celebrate and we give thanks to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

His passion reminds us of the endless depths of His love. Jesus bore our sins as His burden, and for it, was mocked and slandered during His final hours. Yet He endured willingly with grace and humility. He taught us to act with compassion always, and even in His darkest hour, showed us how to chose love.

When faced with the most wicked displays of humanity, His faith in the Father remained steadfast and true. His body was broken, but his spirit never faltered. And still, He chose love.

He died on the cross surrounded by the most humble of witnesses, and still, Jesus chose love. In the ultimate act, He traded his final breath for the forgiveness of our sins, and in doing so, granted us salvation.

As Matthew 28:6 tells us, “He is risen. He is not here. He is risen!” In His resurrection, our King of King’s performed the greatest miracle of all. He arose from the dead to defeat Satan and death itself. On this day of Easter celebration, may we each chose to act with the same posture of love until the day He calls us to join Him at the right hand of the Father in our eternal, heavenly home.
