Reflecting on Service: Covenant Packaging and City Union Mission
As the holiday season approaches, we’re reminded of what drives us at Covenant Packaging, our mission and our “why.” We are blessed to operate with two goals in mind: to honor the Lord God, recognizing this as His business concern, and to deliver unparalleled service to our customers in the corrugated packaging industry.
This Thanksgiving and beyond, we’re deeply grateful for the blessings we’ve received—and for the opportunity to give back to the community we call home.
“To whom much is given, much is expected.” – Luke 12:48
At Covenant Packaging, serving others is at the foundation of who we are. This extends beyond providing quality packaging to support nonprofits across the Kansas City area. One organization that inspires us deeply is City Union Mission, an organization with its own “heart to serve.” Their dedication to providing hope and transformation to Kansas City’s homeless and hurting aligns with our belief in giving back to the community.
Serving the Homeless and Hurting
Since 1924, City Union Mission has been a cornerstone of hope for Kansas City’s homeless population. Their work begins by meeting immediate needs—food, shelter, clothing—and extends to offering long-term solutions through programs that foster real transformation.
The Mission’s approach is grounded in compassion and faith. Through Christ’s grace, they help individuals and families move from crisis to renewal, addressing not just physical needs but also emotional and spiritual well-being.
From men’s and family ministries to youth programs and mental health services, City Union Mission provides tools and support for a better future. Their 100-year legacy of service continues to shape the lives of countless individuals and families in Kansas City and beyond.
Stories of Transformation: David and Natalia
City Union Mission’s impact is best seen in the lives it transforms. David and Natalia’s journey, highlighted in the October 2024 edition of the Mission’s newsletter, The Light, is a powerful example.
Once thriving as small business owners in the home remodeling industry, the couple’s world fell apart when addiction and personal struggles disrupted their lives. David’s hidden battle with substance abuse led to the collapse of their business and separation from Natalia, leaving them without direction.
David turned to City Union Mission’s New Life Program, where he found the tools to address his struggles and begin healing. The program offered him spiritual guidance, emotional support, and practical skills to rebuild his life. Natalia, guided by her faith and love, supported him as they worked to mend their relationship.
Together, David and Natalia found a path forward, and the Mission was the bedrock for their renewed sense of purpose. Their story illustrates the transformative power of faith, support, and resilience in overcoming life’s toughest challenges.
Shared Values, Shared Purpose
At Covenant Packaging, we’re inspired by City Union Mission’s commitment to service. While we operate in different spheres, we share a common belief in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Supporting organizations like City Union Mission allows us to extend our values beyond our business operations. Whether through providing boxes, monetary donations, or meeting other specific needs, we are proud to stand alongside nonprofits that uplift our community.
As we reflect on this season of gratitude, we’re reminded of the importance of service and the impact it can have on those around us. City Union Mission’s work exemplifies the power of compassion and the ability to transform lives through faith and dedication.
Their commitment to helping the homeless and hurting inspires us to continue finding ways to serve and support our community. We are honored to partner with an organization that has made such a profound impact over the past century.
